TANGLED LINES LEGENDS • When it was confirmed that kiting would be part of the Olympics a lot of athletes switched over from sailing, windsurfing or other sports. So it was especially gratifying that Annelous, one of the few competitors who was already an accomplished pro rider in park and freestyle and had frequently featured in this magazine, bagged a place on the podium. We were stoked for her and her achievement.

Dahab EGYPT • Sarah Sadek burst onto the Big Air scene a few years ago, has gone on to win multiple podiums in Egypt, and hit her first international podium earlier this year in Barcarès, France. We got her on the line to find out where it all began for her.
MONKEY MAGIC • Bali proved to be a fickle beast for Carl Ferreira on his recent mission there, but he still had a wild ride, caught some epic waves, and put on a good show for the local monkeys.
HERMANUS SESSIONS • Hermanus in South Africa is a fickle beast, and as Hannah Whiteley tells us, sometimes you need a bit of patience to score it at its best. But when it’s working, it can be a truly magical spot to kite…
Jacobsen • Mention Nick Jacobsen and most people will have heard of his cunning stunts. But now he’s taken the biggest plunge of all and jumped into the equally cunning world of kite design and production. He’s just launched his own company, Jacobsen, so of course we needed to find out more and got Nick on the line to find out why he’s taken perhaps the biggest jump of his career…
RAFAEL MONTERO • Rafa from southern Spain, and a team rider for Eleveight, is a relatively young face on the kiting scene but has already won the Spanish Championship and is 2x Junior Freestyle World Champion. With his eyes set on the Freestyle World Championship we thought we’d find out more about him.

BEHIND THE LENS • If you’re a regular reader of these illustrious pages then you’ll surely recognize André Magarao’s photos which have appeared in issues frequently and on at least eight of our covers, including this one. We thought it was high time we found out more about the talented man behind the lens. He hails from Brazil but travels widely to shoot kiteboarding and other action sports.
THE GAMES • Stijn Mul, together with his buddies Michiel Schipper and Marijn Ploeg from SpaceX Kitesurfing, have just started a new venture, The Wind Games, in conjunction with the Surfr App. We got in touch with Stijn to find out what it’s all about and what it could mean for the kiting community – and these boys are definitely keen on fostering a sense of community…
WordSmith • Words can’t fully describe scenery this beautiful. But Oswald Smith has done a grand job in this tale of his trip to the Bahamas with adventurer Blake Olsen and young “Jumpin’ Jakey”. Grab yourself a coffee if you haven’t got one already and sit back and enjoy these stunning turquoise colors and fine words from a talented wordsmith.
OUT BACK • If you’re going to drive into the Australian Outback, with no civilization for 200 kilometers, you need to get your prior preparation and planning sorted. After countless trips to the remote northwest, Gabi Steindl and her husband know the score, and had all the gear on their kite and camping adventure there. It’s not a trip for the faint-hearted, but the rewards are huge...
